BEDA

2020

This was a cross disciplinary school project between BA (Hons) Fashion Media and BA (Hons) Fashion Design programmes at LASALLE College of the Arts. The research track for this project examined the topic of Future Identities, focusing on retaining heritage in the fast paced, futuristic world. We developed a brand Beda, meaning difference in Tamil, Sanskrit and Javanese. The campaign for the brand’s collection, Samsara, blended elements of South Indian and Javanese cultures to create the narrative of embracing heritage in a contemporary setting.

Beda, a hypothetical fashion brand for women, aims to identify the similarities of the identity markers found in different cultures throughout their history and translate them into a contemporary visual language. An eclectic synthesis between past, present and future, the brand aims to break new ground in how the clothes are presented and create conversations found in the intersection between these three moments.
